From the shores of Rameswaram to forests, schools, and fishing villages across Tamil Nadu — Dr. APJMJ Sheik Saleem's work is where vision meets ground reality. Every initiative on this page is a direct expression of the missions Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam championed: a greener India, an educated youth, and communities empowered to thrive.
Below is a record of our field-level work across environmental conservation, rural solar energy, and social welfare — ongoing, expanding, and open to collaboration.

09Space-Based Solar Power Mission
Dr. Saleem has planted over 5 lakh trees across India as part of his lifelong green mission, marching towards a goal of one crore trees. These drives are organised under the banner of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation (AKIF) and in partnership with local government bodies, schools, research institutes, and civil society groups.
Olaikuda, Tamil Nadu
01 / 04A community tree-planting drive conducted along the coastal belt, bringing together local residents, youth volunteers, and Foundation members. Species selected were suited to the coastal ecology to ensure long-term survival and environmental impact.
02 / 04A large-scale social forestry campaign aimed at creating green corridors and reversing land degradation. This initiative, held on the first day of July, aligns with national-level social forestry efforts and demonstrates Dr. Saleem's commitment to ecosystem restoration beyond ceremonial planting.
03 / 04Organised by AKIF, this drive targeted one of Tamil Nadu's sun-rich regions — home to the world-famous Kamuthi Solar Power Project — reinforcing the Foundation's twin commitment to greening the land and harnessing solar energy.
04 / 04A significant institutional drive held at CMFRI — a premier marine research facility — organised by AKIF. This initiative connected ecological restoration with scientific institutions, creating awareness among researchers about the role of green cover in coastal marine health.
Under the 'Solar Rameswaram' Mission, coordinated with the International 'We Serve' Foundation (USA), Dr. Saleem has delivered solar energy access to communities that need it most:
Solar power supply installed across 22 public schools in the Rameswaram region.
Distributed to poor families — enabling light after dark.
Solar Rameswaram
Solar high-beam LED lights donated to fishermen's boats — improving safety at sea.
Promoting Rameswaram as a model for solar-powered, energy-independent communities.
Driven by Dr. Kalam's 'Igniting Minds' mission, Dr. Saleem's educational work includes:
Established in local government schools.
Set up in schools and community spaces across Rameswaram.
Distributed to fishermen and coastal workers for maritime safety.
On science, innovation, and career opportunities for rural youth.
